This is a great deal for a smoke detector that meets the latest specs.
When buying a smoke detector today, you should choose one that meets UL 217 (9th edition). This latest spec makes the old “ionization vs. photoelectric” debate obsolete. If you recall, ionization detectors were great for fast-flaming fires (black smoke) while photoelectric was great for detecting smoldering fires (white smoke). This reliably catches both.
I bought a few of these for my rental properties a couple years ago and they’ve performed well.
