I just picked up UniFi Travel Router $115. Today, is the first day of sales and, I would expect this to be OOS fast. For those of us who is using UniFi eco system, IMHO it is an excellent deal.
I have been using GLI.iNet travel router. It is a great little device but, every time I need to connect my laptop or a phone to wifi, I have to connect to it. Also time from time GLI requires reconfiguration or, updates or, wireguard reinstall…
Once, I had to do updates during my travels and, it was not fun.
With new UniFi Travel Router, all my settings and connections will be automatically mirrored and I will have nothing to do but, to plug in and connect as I connect at home.
The price tag of $115 (plus $15 shipping) is well within a reasonable prices of similar devices.
There are many reviews on YouTube pointing to pro’s and con’s. The main con would be its limitation to 5Ghz wifi. Not a big deal for me as I would use 2.5G LAN port to connect to my laptop anyway. And, my phone using wifi 5 is ok. Another con is $15 shipping. Well, try to think I you need something else you need… I picked up 2.5G flex switch for $65 to upgrade my flex mini switch.
