I was in Shenzhen China recently for the National Holiday/Golden Week. While there I went to the Costco to check out the offerings. I went the day after National Day and it was dead! Much like Shenzhen was that week. The Costco is in a neighbourhood in the north of the city about a 60 minute metro ride plus a 15minute walk from the centre.
There were definitely a lot of different things there. Lots of asian snacks that looked great, but I didn’t buy anything. I really wanted to buy the coriander chips but did not because I didn’t think I would eat it all. I didn’t see them anywhere else. I found out that they are from Taiwan. The samples available were great though!
There wasn’t much in selection of fruits and vegetables. Probably because they are plentiful everywhere in the city and it’s also cheaper and fresher in local markets.
I’m fairly certain there was an auto centre, because I saw tires and batteries, but never saw it. It may have been underground in the parking garage.
The food court at noon was dead also. You can see from the photo the lack of people at noon. The hot dog deal was RMB¥10.90, expensive compared to Canada. The hot dogs are pork. I didn’t eat anything as food elsewhere is better and cheaper!
