Otocinlus are the (IIRC) smallest catfish out there. Always best to pick them up near the end of a sale to ensure they are feeding well as they are often stressed from the transportation.
They are just adorable little fish and if you look at them long enough they can and will sometimes wink at you. They are a schooling fish so keep that in mind and recommended to keep then in 6 or more tho I have read of some people keeping them at 4-5 without issues. They are herbivores and I have read they will also eat tiny bits of blanched zucchini , lettuce, spinach, along with algae pellets.
They are a very peaceful and harmless fish that are from all I’ve read considered the only safest fish to keep with shrimp.
This is a good sale I think for a one stop shop if you already have an aquarium or maybe you want to pick one up as well you can.
Please MAKE SURE YOUR AQUARIUM IS -CYCLED- before buying the fish. You could talk with friends that have aquariums and have them hold onto the fish for you in their tanks if they have the space or a spare tank while your tank gets ready.
Understand the ‘nitrogen cycle’ before starting an aquarium. You can rapid cycle your aquarium if someone is willing to give you some of their filter material full of beneficial bacteria along with some biomedia like bio-rings.
You can also call up the store and see if they will rain check or hold the sale price for you. I have never done that for this location but I know the Vaughan location did price hold for me before and have done a raincheck. I assume if they can price hold for you then it would be with whichever fishroom employee you spoke with so get their name if they will allow that.
