  • New Canadian Personal Finance App

    Hey everyone,

Quick story: I’m a Canadian renter who kept “meaning to budget” every month, and it always turned into the same routine, open a banking app, feel guilty, close it, repeat. The problem wasn’t discipline. It was that money tools either feel like spreadsheets or they give you numbers with zero clarity.

So my two co-founders and I built KarlaFinance. It’s a Canadian-born personal finance app designed to make your finances feel calm and obvious.

    What it does:

    • Connect as many cards/accounts as you want
    • Gives you a clear view of spending across everything
    • Lets you ask your money questions in plain English (instead of digging through categories and filters)

The chat part is the “moat” for us, because it turns finance into something you can actually use day-to-day:

“What did I spend on food this month?”

“What subscriptions did I forget about?”

“What can I safely spend this week?”

We’re still early, so I’m not here to do a hard sell. I’m here because RFD is full of people who are smart with money and will tell you the truth fast.

If you want to try it:
    KarlaFinance.com

If you do, I’d love feedback on one thing: what would make this genuinely useful for you in 30 seconds or less?

  • [Skip] 50% off Dec 6 only while supplies last

Just saw this ad on instagram, assume it’s Canada-wide but likely limited uses. Just worked for me.

Use code POWERPLAY50 for 50% off (min $25 order, max discount $40). Works for pickup as well (not in screenshot but I tested it).

    Good luck!

  • Telus EPP $30 for 100G Canada/US YMMV

Received a call from +1 (1) (780) 970-6901, claimed to be calling from Telus with EPP offer, thought it was scam (as some online review of this number suggested so), but was able to identify my full name and employer.

Offered a plan of ($55/month – $15/month for 24 months – $10 auto pay =) $30/month for Canada/US plan on their real 5G network. Proceeded with the offer and was able to send verification to work email also did not ask for credit card info so feels legit, and received service agreement, esim installation via phone and successfully ported to Telus, so legit. Mentioned activation fee of $80 will be waived in first bill in once, not spread out to future months.

Apparently this EPP offer varies by employers as a friend got a call from the same number, only offered $35/month for 70G Canada/US and could not provide esim via phone.
