‘Hometown pride’: Newmarket McDonald’s renamed McDavid’s to celebrate NHL star

Restaurant celebrates McDavid’s game-winning goal for Canada by temporarily renaming local franchise location, launching Big Mac-David burgers, 97-cent fries

Newmarket NHL hockey star Connor McDavid captured Canada’s hearts with his winning goal at the 4 Nations Face-off, and now he has captured the golden arches at McDonalds.

McDonald’s celebrated McDavid’s overtime winning goal against the United States Feb. 20 by renaming a Newmarket McDonald’s location at 1100 Davis Dr. as McDavid’s Feb. 27. The restaurant chain decorated the location at 1100 Davis Dr. with Canadian flags and went as far as changing the signs on the exterior of the building to McDavid’s.

Beyond changing the signs and decorations at the franchise for one week, the restaurant will also be celebrating by having the Big Mac-David burger stay on the menu a while longer. Visitors to the franchise location on Davis Drive will also be able to get a small order of fries for just $0.97, representing McDavid’s jersey number, from 11 a.m. to midnight.

As part of the celebration, McDavid’s will keep the Big Mac-David burger on the menu for a little longer. The burger, a Double Big Mac with four beef patties and the classic Big Mac toppings, pays tribute to McDavid’s high-energy playing style.

Guests visiting the McDavid’s location on Davis Drive in Newmarket will be able to get a small order of World Famous Fries™ for just $0.97, available from Friday, February 28 until Sunday, March 2 (limit of five orders per customer).

Sale goes from Friday March 14 – March 20.

Not as good as when Part Source has it ($150), but I think that’s the one time I’ve seen that price.

This is a 2 gallons per min flow rate which is better than many that are 1.5GPM, helps in washing.

You’ll need to include the price of a 50ft hose, the included hose is only 20ft. Don’t be like me and get a 25ft flexzilla hose which is barely even better.

You’ll also want to get some quick connect fittings to make it easier to connect everything, these will be needed if you get a new hose.

The $100 you save will go into these accessories I guess.

EDIT: Expiry date updated as requested in thread.

Hi everyone, I purchased this Ooni pizza oven on sale and wanted to share the deal.

Really great price. 31% off sticker. The 12” oven is also on sale for $349 but I’ve read the 16” is easier to turn pizzas in and has a better burner.

Heads-up on delivery: It requires a signature, and they only attempt delivery once. I missed mine, and the box is huge—might be tough to fit in some vehicles if you have to pick it up at FedEx.

Seagate Expansion Desktop 14TB USB 3.0 External Hard Drive (STKP14000400)

The 14TB external HDD is for $249.99, which is only $5 more than the 8TB version. It amounts to only $17.85 per TB, which is really good for archiving or general backup purposes.

While I know this is expensive and the new 50-series from Nvidia has been lackluster in most regards (especially when it comes to pure rasterization uplift from the previous generations), I don’t think this is a terrible price given it will be performing around 4090 laptop levels (before DLSS 4 multi-frame generation). This is by far the cheapest 5080 laptop right now.
So far, there hasn’t been anything in terms of reviews yet for 5080 laptops, but given the GPU-bound nature of the 5090 only seeing performance upgrades at 4K and demanding requirements, this GPU may be the sweet spot like the 4080 was for the last generation.
Additionally, and like the Razer Blade 16 with the 5090 that was recently reviewed as embargoes lift, this laptop will likely have fantastic battery life (an uplift of ~40% over the previous generation, despite having a smaller battery). As per Dave2D’s findings, it is the performance/watt, the battery life, and the gaming performance on battery that sees this generation shine. Nvidia’s marketing department should be put to shame for their outright misleading statements though. In my opinion, I do not believe the 5080 will perform any less than the 5090 in most games as they won’t be GPU-bound.

The specs:

• Intel® Core™ Ultra 9 275HX (24 cores, 24 threads, 32MB Cache)
• Integrated Intel Arc Graphics
• RTX 5080
• 250W Total Package Power with Liquid Metal on CPU and GPU, and vapor chamber on all.
• 16″ 1600P (QHD+) 240″ IPS 3ms 500 nits
• 32 GB DDR5-5600 MT/s RAM (2×16)
• 1TB SSD
• 2x Thunderbolt 4, 2x USB A 3.2, HDMI 2.1, Combo Jack, Ethernet
• WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4
• 83Whr Battery
• Per-key RGB keyboard
• 330W Adapter
• 35.65 cm x 26.9 cm x 2.29 cm
• 1080P Camera
• Relatively light at 2.75KG
• Aluminum build in Shadow Black.

Don’t know when the 20% Cashback with Rakuten ends but this is a reasonable deal for a brand new release, high-powered laptop (shipping begins April 7).

Price: $3999
$150 off code (and on Rakuten so it won’t exclude you): 150HP1499
Price before taxes: $3849
Rakuten Cashback: $769
Total Cost in Ontario: $3580.37
Equivalent to: $3168.47 + tax
