Ages 0-24
Rules:
Complete 5 online Visa* Debit purchases Visa Debit purchases. Opens in a dialog. by August 15, 2025
^^ Must actually make 5 online purchases within 2 months
IMO super hot deal. Free banking until age of 25 and get free $250 is great
To make it even sweeter:
Referral bonus ! Both you and the person you refer gets $75 ( offer expires June 30 )
https://www.cibc.com/en/special-offers/ … riend.html
edit:
**Complete one of the following 2 activities within 60 days of opening their account:
i. set up at least 1 recurring direct deposit, or
ii. set up at least 1 recurring pre-authorized payment **
^^ Very strange requirement of a student / youth / child account. Hopefully this gets removed.
edit 2: PAD –> RESP works
Youth aged 14+ can also get a free SPC card
JUNE 12 update:
Under age of majority people CANNOT refer , but they can be referred. So silly.
Sign up for an adult account first to refer if you like , or ensure person referring you has an adult account.
Refer payments are not paid out until after 60 days. You can call telephone banking to see which accounts are linked to yours for refer bonus though.
CIBC fine print:
“To be a referrer for the purposes of the Program (a “Referrer”), you must: (i) be a resident of Canada, (ii) have
reached the age of majority in your province and territory of residence, (iii) have an existing CIBC Canadian dollar
chequing or savings account that is open, active and in good standing (an “Eligible Account”), and (iv) be registered
for CIBC mobile or online banking.”

This is the cheapest that I’ve noticed a system with a processor more powerful than than an Intel N150.
The processor is a Ryzen 5 7430U which is essentially a R5 5625U https://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-Ryzen … 966.0.html
It has a very comfortable amount of RAM and SSD.
It comes with “DOS”: no Windows license. Linux is free and Windows is inexpensive.
I’m not going to buy one: I’ve already got more than enough mini-PCs.
