Spotted this at the Tronto Staples shipping/printing center today.

Deal details:

Must activate 4 lines

$40/mo per line

60GB Data

Unlimited Canada-wide Talk & Text

Aeroplan points usually fluctuate in value depending on how you redeem them. On average:

~1.5–2 cents per point if redeemed smartly (flights, business class redemptions, promos).

~1 cent per point if redeemed for gift cards or merchandise (the lower end).

So for 40,000 Aeroplan points:

$400–$800 value (realistic flight redemption range).

Around $400 if you take the conservative estimate (1 cent/pt).

Could stretch up to $800+ if used strategically for flights.

So the deal is effectively giving you $100 gift card + ~$400–$800 in points value on top of the $40/mo rate.

$100 gift card

40,000 Aeroplan points

Pretty strong offer if you can group 4 lines together. Might be Staples-specific so best to check with the wireless rep at your local Staples.

When I saw the prices on some of these I did some digging and it looks like they’re actually selling them at the lowest price that it’s legally possible to sell them in BC (other than the two wines). Ref: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/assets/gov/emplo … _price.pdf

Absolut Vodka 1.14L – was $42.99 NOW $31.78 (save $11.21)

Forty Creek Barrel Select Whisky – was $27.99 NOW $20.91 (save $7.08)

Budweiser 36pk Cans – was $65.79 NOW $40.90 (save $24.89)

Nutrl Vodka Soda Lime 12pk Cans – was $29.29 NOW $15.98 (save $13.31)

Selaks Sauvignon Blanc (NZ) – was $18.99 NOW $12.99 (save $6.00)

Petrichor Cabernet Sauvignon (BC VQA) – was $19.99 NOW $15.99 (save $4.00)

I think technically the Budweiser could be sold $0.03 cheaper if the calculator at that link above is right but anyway, close enough!

fwiw, I think the Selaks is pretty comparable to Oyster Bay so pretty decent deal on that. Never tried the red before.

Also of note, the government’s public service union is currently still without a contract and has (or is in the process of maybe?) taking a strike vote. The last time they went on strike it was the workers at the main distribution centers and it was pretty dry for anything other than beer in the province while that went on, so not a bad idea to stock up now especially at these prices just in case that happens again in the future.

I have no idea how or if they’re making any money off these at these prices so don’t expect you’ll see pricing like it again in the near future. Happy shopping!
