To address all the potential criticisms and considerations: Yes, this might not be the best option for a new build, compared AMD’s 9xxx series. Yes, this requires good cooling to reduce thermal throttling, and I personally recommend preparing to undervolt rather than overclock. Yes, this requires a BIOS update with the latest microcode to ensure longevity.
But if you understand all that, this would be an ideal end-of-the-line upgrade for anybody with a Z690 or Z790 motherboard, and decent cooling, to get you through the next few years.
