[tldr; prime only] normal specialized anker power bank is normally $129. Apply promo to get free smaller power bank for free, return that smaller power bank to get ~$33 back. Specialized $129 bank becomes $96!
============================================
Was looking for a larger capacity power bank and stumbled upon an Amazon promotion that gives you a free Anker 10000 mAh powerbank if you buy the 25000mAh laptop one with integrated cable. Need to add both in cart for the discount to apply, and you need prime for the promotional pricing of $129.99 for the black one.
That got me thinking whether you could return the free smaller power bank and get a partial refund applied to overall purchase. (Similar to home depot). As shown from the image, the “free powerbank” discount is applied across both items, hence you’re able to return the power bank to get some money back (less the discount on the portion on the free one). For me, it ended up being $33.97 refunded, so $129.99 – 33.97 = 96.02.
I acknowledge it’s not the hottest deal, but this power bank MSRP is $169 – realistically it’s $129 since that’s what the anker website price is, but still not a terrible discount (25%) if anyone was debating getting this power bank! I get the ugreen one is $120, but this one has two integrated cables!
Technically the Amazon Q&A acknowledges that you are allowed to return parts of the order, it’s just the promotion amount will be subtracted from the refund. Because the “free item” discount is split between the two items, returning the free item will result in some money being refunded when you return the smaller power bank!
