  • [Best Buy] [Black Friday] Epson/Best Buy – Epson Ecotank ET-8550 Printer – $699.99

Epson and Best Buy have this Epson Ecotank ET-8550 printer on for $699.99. It can print up to 13″ x 19″ photos (its smaller brother ET-8500 can go to 8.5″ x 11″ and this bigger model is currently cheaper). You can get other printers like the Canon Pro series that may give you a bit higher quality (and that may be a consideration if selling prints), but this printer is hard to beat when it comes to cost of consumables / overall value proposition.

  • [Koodo] Google Pixel 10 128GB $1/month with effectively $50 plan, Activation Fee Waived

My current term is up and I do not want to do the whole dance around getting a new phone. I requested a callback, then was offered the default online renewal offer by the rep. I asked to be connected to retention.

We kept doing the math across 2 years as we were talking and throwing numbers around. Went from $16.67/month of the phone to $8.33/month after I mentioned the $200 GC from the Best Buy offer to match that, then I kept asking of ways to have a lower plan and looking at BYOD plans.

So she offered me the Pixel 10 128 GB in blue for $1/month, but here is the kicker: not as a separate discount on my monthly bill. It is permanently reduced on the Phone Tab I pay every month, while my Tab Bonus stayed the same as if I paid $16.67/month. So If I were to cancel my contract tomorrow, the phone would cost me $848.12 + $24 I assume. Which is roughly in line with buying the phone unlocked/no contract.

So my cost across 2 years is:
    – $50 x 24 + $24 for the phone & activation fee refunded = $1224
    – Just an hour on the phone, didn’t even need to leave my home and jump into the BF craziness

    Current Alternatives would be:
    – $25*24 for public mobile with 8GB 4G and no perks + $850 to buy the phone outright during BF = $1450

    My plan is:
$50/40GB 5G data ($60- $10 bank payment rebate), free LD package to 27 countries + a free Perk. Yes, I realize thats not a lot of data compared to other plans, but I use literally 10% of that every month.

And, in a few months I will call to find a way to reduce my monthly bill, something I managed to with my past two contract terms – as there are no explicit separate, plan specific discounts that would be lost.

And, if for some reason, the Pixel 10 gets discounted to $0/month during the return window, they will honor that as well as they did the same with my Pixel 8 2 years ago.

  • [Amazon.ca] Creality CR-Ferret SE 3D Scanner $308 ATL – Business account required.

ATL for the ferret SE 3d scanner. This is an entry level scanner but based on reviews it seems to do a decent job once you get the hang of it.

Don’t forget the clip the $88 coupon to bring it to $308.

Looks like this is a business account price.

Can be obtained cheaper on creality.com, USA site but does not ship to Canada.

  • Samsung – Galaxy S11 Tablet Ultra Book Cover – $150 through Venngo

I went on Venngo and when I add to cart it dropped to $150 and saw the notification 50% discount applied to mobile accessories.

So this will apply the lower of sale price or 50% off regular price. I was able to get the S11 Ultra keyboard for $150 (50% off 299.99) instead of sale price of 199.99.

This might work on Perkopolis too.

Hope this comes in English keyboard since reviews say it comes in French keyboard…

    Cheers,

  • [Amazon.ca] [Black Friday] Lexar 1TB microSD Silver Plus – $98.12

Price is good for a solid card. I’ve had one since July and filled the entire card at a sustained 60-70MB/s all the way through. No overheating or throttling. No data corruption so far.

I believe these are marketed for drone and camera use too.

The “Silver Plus” tier is not bad unlike their cheapest cards that have a terrible reputation and that has damaged the brand’s rep in general. These cards are above the “Play” and blue lines. They are below the “Gold” offering.

This is not a microSD Express card. It will work with any device that takes microSD but does not require the Express protocol.

  • [Telmax] [Black Friday] Telmax – 2 Gbps fibre – $28.95 a year. $84.95 a year after

YMMV – Telmax has their 2 Gbps plan dropped to $28.95 a year for one year. They are not everywhere yet. Installation fee waived. I still need to check if the offer of 3 months free on old price of $44.95 is still valid or not. See for yourself if this plan makes sense to your needs.

My neighbor has it for a few months and is very happy. There is a $50 referral.
