While I know this is expensive and the new 50-series from Nvidia has been lackluster in most regards (especially when it comes to pure rasterization uplift from the previous generations), I don’t think this is a terrible price given it will be performing around 4090 laptop levels (before DLSS 4 multi-frame generation). This is by far the cheapest 5080 laptop right now.
So far, there hasn’t been anything in terms of reviews yet for 5080 laptops, but given the GPU-bound nature of the 5090 only seeing performance upgrades at 4K and demanding requirements, this GPU may be the sweet spot like the 4080 was for the last generation.
Additionally, and like the Razer Blade 16 with the 5090 that was recently reviewed as embargoes lift, this laptop will likely have fantastic battery life (an uplift of ~40% over the previous generation, despite having a smaller battery). As per Dave2D’s findings, it is the performance/watt, the battery life, and the gaming performance on battery that sees this generation shine. Nvidia’s marketing department should be put to shame for their outright misleading statements though. In my opinion, I do not believe the 5080 will perform any less than the 5090 in most games as they won’t be GPU-bound.
