Spending vacation in my home country and found this deal while searching for a faster and easy way to have an E-SIM so that I’d have internet as soon as I arrived.
You get 30GB of internet data for 30 days, which pretty much covers the vacation period of most.
The caveat: you need a Brazilian SIN number (CPF). Unlike Canadian SIN, there isn’t much you can do with just that number – in fact, Brazilians are more likely to inform you their CPF than their phone number (you get asked that by the cashier’s as soon as you buy something – not that you need to provide one but you often get government rebates if you do so, it also comes in your invoice/bill for an electronic so that it’s easy for you to claim warranty, etc). So, if you have a Brazilian friend, they’re most likely happy to help you with that.
The page and the app are fully in Portuguese and the process also requires facial biometry registration – so the person with said CPF can only have it once.
There’s another provider named Claro offering the same service; which doesn’t work for me as I was their client previously last year – and the esik process takes up to 2 days while TIM is instantaneous.
Warning: request the sim while being in Brazil; the phone has to sync with the provider
TL;dr: download the app > have a cpf number and be physically in Brazil > sign up > get E-SIM > ??? > profit > huehuehuebr (I’m Brazilian so I’m entitled to huehuehuebr)
Also, while Tim Horton’s is partially owned by a Brazilian group, this is about Telecom Italia Mobile so no free double double for you (well, we have real coffee in Brazil anyway…)
