Yeah with the return of Chinese airlines to YVR, we are seeing more wild deals like this again.
You don’t have to stay in Jakarta (though hotels are so cheap and C$ is strong against the Indonesian Currency), but you can use it as a jump off to go to Bali, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore. Most flights you can score for about $100 round trip if you look at the low cost carrier options.
Its $731 booking with Xiamen directly for those squimish on booking with 3rd party. Which is still great for that long of a flight, plus the amount of days you can stay.
You can play around with the dates, I was able to find in May and June. However this is the longest date range, most are 12-15 days.
Also, its freaken hot that side of the world.
