  • [Amazon.ca] MEGAPRO 15-in-1 Screwdriver $22.49 (42% off)

Came across this Megapro 15-in-1 screwdriver, meaning it has 7 double-ended bits stored in a retractable cartridge, giving you 14 different tips. Plus, there’s a 1/4″ nut drive in the shaft. It has features like a palm-saver cap for comfort, an ultra-strong handle, and an EZ Guide Collar to help keep the bit aligned with the screw. Looks like a good price for a Canadian-made, quality screwdriver.

Strange to see as a redemption option in the partner rewards section. There is also a pet and a backpack transmog for 2000 points each.

Looks like it is limited to 1 redemption unfortunately.

  • [AliExpress] AMD Ryzen 9950x CPU $370 all in after cashback

AliExpress is currently running its biggest sale of the year, 11.11, with significant discounts on most items. You can save even more by stacking several offers together.

Here’s how I got the price down:

    1. AliExpress 11.11 Sale & Coupons

AliExpress is offering substantial discounts during its 11.11 sale. Make sure you check for additional coupons on the product page, usually displayed just below the item price. You may need to click and claim them before checkout.

Important: Set your AliExpress currency to USD. AliExpress has pretty terrible exchange rates, and switching from CAD to USD can save you around $30. Compare both currencies before purchasing to see the difference.

    2. Rakuten Cashback

Use “Rakuten.com” (https://www.rakuten.com/) (make sure you’re using “.com”, NOT the Canadian “.ca” site).

    – Currently offering 25% cashback.
    – Cashback increases to 30% on November 7th.
    – I decided not to wait until November 7th because I didn’t want to risk the CPU price going up.

    3. PayPal Discount

Paying with PayPal gets you another $28 in savings.

    – Select Pay Now, rather than installments.
    – Make sure PayPal charges you in USD, even if you’re paying with a Canadian credit card.
    – Avoid PayPal’s currency conversion because its exchange rate is also terrible.

    4. Use a No-Foreign-Transaction-Fee Credit Card

Ideally, use a credit card that doesn’t charge foreign currency conversion fees.

Most Canadian credit cards charge an additional 2.5% foreign transaction fee. I use the Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite to avoid this extra cost.

    A Few Rakuten Tips

To help ensure your cashback tracks properly:

    1. Open a new incognito tab on pc.
    2. Go to Rakuten.com (USA Rakuten, not .ca) and click through to AliExpress.
    3. Try to complete your purchase immediately after clicking through.
    4. I set up PayPal as my cashback payment method on Rakuten.

This might be overkill, but I wanted to minimize the chances of missing out on the cashback. The cashback posted to my account almost 3 hours after purchase.

My CC was charged $501.20cad and I recieved $94.41USD CB, $131.70CAD
    Netting the CPU for $369.50

    Enjoy your half-price workstation CPU.

Good sale, eggs, chicken breasts, steak etc. The rest will be updated Thursday.

As requested by @Rngmonster13, a * next to the price means either best price in recent memory, a great value or my top pick.

While I try to be as consistent as possible with the ‘same@’, It can be tricky at times especially when it comes to fruits/meat/veggies as quality can vary from grocer to grocer. It can also be confusing with veggies that come in 1/2/3/5/10lb packages and items like TP that come in so many packages/sizes/softness/absorbency.

Furthermore, quantity and ‘freedom of choice’ is always better AKA 1$ for 1kg is better than 2$ for 2kg- It’s expected the higher size/package to have a better price. Also, items that can be picked (fruits etc) for x$ is better than the prepackaged at the same price/weight.

Lastly, I usually give PCO points at almost face $ value AKA item at 2$ is almost the same as 3$ with bonus 1000PCO. I say almost because of taxes and/or how you spend those PCO points (bonus points day, spend x$ get xPCO back.)

Note : This thread usually goes online at 5:00am on Wednesday. Walmart and Kim Phat usually have their flyers online on Thursday and will be updated accordingly.
