New Rice Roll + Congee Spot in Richmond Union Square!

@lucky.j___ just opened this month in @visitrichmondbc they offer affordable food and snacks! All items under $13 see menu at the end of reel!

Here’s what I tried
Shrimp and Fish + Noodles Rice Roll ($12) – I like how new and unique this dish is! The noodles added texture to the rice rolls and the shacha sauce gave it more flavour.
I recommend you ask for the sauce on the side if you have peanut allergy as the peanuts are in the sauce.

Beef Rice Roll ($7) – nice tender beef and the rice rolls were chewy

Beef + Shrimp Wonton Noodle Soup ($12) – one of the more filling items on the menu. I really like how tender the Beef was and the shrimp + pork wontons were big! I recommend this one

Cold Noodles ($6) – a chef recommended item that’s slightly spicy and the noodles where chewy like udon. It’s very affordable and worth a try!

Pork Pie ($3.5) – another chef recommended item! You need to eat this fresh, as the outside would be slightly crispy while the inside is chewy and the pork is moist.

Preserved Egg and Pork Congee ($6) – a classic congee that’s very good. The congee itself is pretty thick.
There’s peanuts on top as garnish, if you have an allergy please ask them to skip it.

Chinese Donut Rice Roll ($8) – my friend requested this one and I like how the inside was crunchy while the outside is soft. You need to eat it ASAP once cooled it’s not as crunchy.

Lucky J (@lucky.j___, 吉哥小吃) is your next go-to spot for affordable congee and rice rolls. Newly opened at Union Square in Richmond (taking over the former space of Hanppy Tofu Pot House), @lucky.j___ offers a succinct menu with congee at $8 and rice rolls starting at just $5! Their signature is the Shacha Sauce Rice Roll Noodle series, which combine rice rolls with noodles for a different textural taste of two familiar items. Also available on the menu are wonton noodles, snacks, and housemade soy milk.

Lucky J is partially named after the owner whose name begins with “J”. The inside largely retained the decor of the previous restaurant, which I think is a good idea in today’s economy. It helps to keep the costs down for the owner, therefore allowing the menu to be set at lower prices. Great for customers (who want to try a bit of everything) without breaking their wallet.
