This is a gaming first laptop that prioritizes max sustain performance pushing that 5070ti to it’s 140w limit as much as it can alongside its Ryzen HX CPU.

At 2100 CAD this is probably the cheapest RTX 5070ti laptop that I could find. While it only has 16gb ram the upgradability on this laptop is as good as other 16 inch gaming laptops. 16gb of ram still is the main “compromise” here but it’s clear to say that the lower ram config is what keeps the laptops very strong fps per dollar.

Other compromises would be the weight and thickness of this laptop. However, that thickness is what gives the high powered components the cooling surface area it needs to play games at 1600p smoothly.
Another compromise is the battery life providing somewhat below the average runtime compared to other gaming laptops. It’s not horrid so I would say it’s fair considering how power hungry the 140w 5070ti and HX CPU is.

And off the top of my head the last compromise would be it’s fan noise. The thickness and internal cooling system with several copper heat pipes makes this thing a cooling beast, but to help it sustain hours of heavy workloads it requires louder fans than most. Still bearable to those who are used to loud gaming laptops.

MSI’s more expensive laptops such as these are always great at maximizing performance over thinness and weight and it’s obvious who this laptop is targeted to.
Buy this laptop if you are an avid player of demanding AAA games at high-ultra settings at 1600p, who also needs their laptop to endure hours of demanding workloads requiring a powerful cooling system (like this one) to sustain that.

At the end of the day it still is a 16 inch laptop, while on the heavy side it is a portable machine nonetheless. So the usable portability mixed with the powerful sustain performance the laptop provides (albeit with 16gb of ram) makes this a good deal in my opinion.

PS: 16gb of ram is not bad, it simply is the minimum if you JUST want to play games. Not have several apps behind it (discord, browsers, background records) while playing games. Still good for lighter titles though.
