The TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite card currently has some “promos” on there that are allegedly “limited time” (not sure if they are indeed limited time or this is all marketing). You can earn up to 40000 Aeroplan points if you fulfill a few minimum spend conditions, 10000 of those are on activation. First year fees are waived, as are the fees for additional cards. The fees would be waived if you have a TD All Inclusive banking plan.
More importantly with this card, and the reason why I am considering it in the first place are the benefits. There are too many to list here but you can see for yourself here
These are the notable benefits that I see:
- Free first checked bag on Air Canada flights. If your fare comes with a checked bag, this doesn’t matter but if you buy the cheapest fares that do not come with a bag, this benefit will grant the card holder as well as anybody on the same reservation a free checked in bag (up to 9 total). This is huge and can be up to $150 per bag on a roundtrip flight. Must be an Air Canada flight and must check in with Air Canada (i.e. the flight cannot be a Airline XYZ “operated by Air Canada”).
- Free fourth night when staying at a partner hotel. This is also great but more limited since I believe you need to use Aeroplan points and it has to be a hotel you were considering anyway. Buy three nights, get a fourth free.
- For travellers to America, you can get a discount of $100 on the Nexus application.
As I said, pretty niche, but I figured vacation season is coming up for many and some of those benefits might be a great bonus. Note: applying for this card will have a hit on your credit score
