[Princess Auto] DEWALT 1600A Jump Starter with Air Compressors $199

Starting Nov. 4, Princessauto will have the Dewalt Jump Starter with Air Compressor on sale for $199. One might say I might as well get Gooloo for half price. That is absolutely true if the living conditions are identical to those inside the lab. However, the advantage of the old-fashioned lead-acid jump starter is overwhelming:

Dewalt can jump-start a completely dead car battery (Voltage=0). Tiny lithium can not (only a few of them can: $400 Noco can start a completely dead battery).

Dewalt will not lose capacity in the winter. Lithium jump starter capacity degrades in the cold. If one lives in a southern state, a small lithium jump starter would be fine. However, when temperatures go down, Lithium battery will have slower ion movement: electrolytes become thicker and ion mobility drops. Voltage drops faster under load. Capacity is significantly reduced.

Surely Dewalt is heavy and makes you look like a grandpa, but it will work in sub-zero temperatures every time. The tiny lithium jump starter will make you look like a smart man, but if you leave it inside the car in the cold, you may as well get CAA instead.
