[AMEX] AMEX Business Platinum Card Holders – 5X bonus points (up to 30K/105K) for adding supplementary cards

Received the following email from Amex as a Business Platinum cardholder. Check your email for the link to claim the offer.

Based on how I understand this, you may add up to 3 supplementary cards with the following benefits:

• Employee AMEX Business Gold card: $0 fee, earn 5X bonus MR points for every $1 spent on the supplementary card up to 10K points ($2000 spend) per card
• Employee AMEX Business Platinum card: $250 fee, earn 5X bonus MR points for every $1 spent on the supplementary card up to 35K points ($7000 spend) per card

I think the real value here is from adding supplementary Business GOLD cards since they are free, and give 5x bonus MR points to the primary account holder for ALL spend up to $2000 per supplementary card.

The AMEX Cobalt is widely considered the best earning card in Canada at 5X bonus points on food purchases (including groceries, restaurants, delivery services, meal subscriptions, etc.). Although there is some hassle with creating the supplementary cards, this lets you extend that benefit to spend in any category (to a maximum of $2000/card and 3 supplementary cards).

If you were to maximize this with 3 supplementary Business Gold cards, you would earn 30K points for $6000 spend in any category. At a minimum this is worth $300 in statement credits, but when converting to partner airline rewards points and redeeming for travel many people can easily find value of $600+ (using a value of 2 cents/pp, and savvy members have found opportunities values at 6-8+ cents/pp).

You could alternatively get up to 105K bonus MR points with $7000 spend on each of 3 supplementary AMEX Business Platinum cards, but there is a $250/card fee for a total cost of $750 for the 105K points (in addition to $21,000 spend).
